Hatha Yoga:  Tuesdays @ 12:15pm

Since childhood, I have pursued the growth and development of both mind and body in what started with a deep empathy for nature and an interest in the martial arts. After reaching a second degree black belt in Taekwondo in my youth (with ATA/Taekwondo America), I went on to teach as an assistant, and many years later found Capoeira where I trained and taught with the Canto Do Galo group (of the American Capoeira Association) in Boulder/Denver, Colorado (2000-2004). My interest in the exploration of the self, led me to meditation back in 1993, further opening the doors to yoga and healing. I began my study of various forms of yoga in 1998, later receiving my teaching certification in Nasik, India in Classical Yoga (the original 8-limb practice outlined by Patanjali). I began exploring reiki as a natural method of healing in 2001 and became a Reiki Master in the Mikao Usui tradition in 2006. My yoga and meditation classes (a fusion of hatha and vinyasa) seek to incorporate the holistic practice of yoga illuminating the transcendental element of yoga's deeply spiritual origin. My time off the mat is usually spent immersed in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains or in my musical passions of DJing, the production of ethnic-electronic music, and the exploration of trance-dance all as methods for healing, expression, and self-realization.

The approach I take to my practice is an expression of my commitment to my approach to life. I believe this human experience is only fully and truly embraced when from both the personal and transpersonal perspectives. Beginning with awareness of one's self and the pursuit of self-discovery we are brought to the realization of our essence and empowered with the tools and wisdom for aiding in the evolution of the collective and in reclaiming our spirit. Through a balance of personal practice and the promotion of knowledge sharing, we can amplify our abilities to heal ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Our collective efforts are what will ultimately propel the development of elevated levels of human communication and awareness, allowing us to transcend and liberate from that which illudes and separates us.

"As long as one struggles to use yoga to improve his life, he never finds yoga. It is only when one is prepared to use his life for the purpose of yoga that he discovers its stunning realities."
